BEST ODI BATSMAN OF EACH TEAM PLAYING IN THE WORLD CURRENTLY

BEST ODI BATSMEN OF EACH TEAM IN THE WORLD PLAYING CURRENTLY

  1. AB DE VILLIERS (SOUTH AFRICA): The swashbuckling, fabulous, awesome, unbelievable, out-of the world, Proteas batsman is a phenomenon in itself.  He is currently regarded as the best ODI batsman in the world (not wrongly so). Watching him batting is a treat in itself. Though his fellow mate, Hashim Amla has a better batting record and is a more reliable batsman, but much of their batting unit revolves around this man.  He can bat like anything, whether it be smashing 149 off 45 in an ODI or playing very reliably and handsomely well. His technique is also very beautiful and fresh. To add, he is an awesome fielder and energy on the field and can also keep the wickets well.[Well for those, who think that he is an over-rated batsman, just peep into his career stats, both ODIS and Tests, and more importantly, see him batting]. In their line-up, there is Faf du Plessis, who bats handsomely well, destructive David Miller and ofcourse the run-machine Hashim Amla.
  2. VIRAT KOHLI (INDIA): Another person in the list, with similar skills and brilliant batting style. Batting looks an easy job, on seeing this guy batting. He is fantastic, refreshing, sizzling, stylish, flamboyant, and marvelous. He has changed the trend in batting style in one-day cricket and records do not seem distant, when he is batting. He is the core of Indian batting line-up. Well, there are other some fine batsmen in the team’s batting order, but he stands on a different footing altogether. He too is a brilliant fielder, in fact one of the best fielders in Indian team and a fire on the field. His aggressive body-language and attacking cricket also attracts many.
  3. KANE WILLIAMSON (NEW ZEALAND): The black-caps are no minnows in cricket anymore, they have transformed into dark-horses, and much credit goes to him. He has made a very huge difference in their batting. A team which always had good bowlers, but struggled to find their way(because of their batting) are competing with the likes of  top-teams South-Africa, Australia and are capable of crushing good teams like India, Sri Lanka. With the likes of Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum and some big-hitters down the order, they look a very dangerous side. Well, Ross Taylor is the most dependable and technically sound Kiwi batsman, and McCullum is the destructive and dangerous batsman, Williamson remains a key player. He is brilliant fielder too.
  4. JOE ROOT (ENGLAND): Well, most of the sides seem to have accustomed to playing one-day cricket in a modern style, the approach of English still seems to be a conservative one. But, this guy is one, who is a ray of hope in their bleak batting prospect. Most of English batsmen succumb to spin-bowling in the middle-overs (they start well while playing seam) and that is a major reason of their failure and also their approach also looks very predictable. He is a very busy, energetic, refreshing, technically sound batsman. Other good batsmen in their line-up is Eoin Morgan, Jos Butler (can be destructive in the final overs and can bat reasonably well), with experienced Ian Bell, capable Ravi Bopara, who can accumulate runs fast down the order and talented Moen Ali.
  5. STEVE SMITH (AUSTRALIA): He is the new Australian batting sensation. Not that, he is in very good form, but otherwise also he is a very technically sound batsman. He keeps the scoreboard ticking.  Other stalwarts are David Warner, Michael Clarke, and then there is dangerous Maxwell, promising Mitchell Marsh, experienced Shane Watson and attacking Faulkner, but he has become the most reliable. He is very energetic, refreshing, accumulator of runs, trades in singles and doubles, rotates well and can accelerate as well. He is good part-time spinner and a brilliant fielder. (He debuted in the team as a spinner).
  6. ANGELO MATHEWS (SRI LANKA): Well, this list in Sri Lanka belongs to Kumar Sangakkara, the legend and another biggie Mahela Jayawardene can’t also be ignored.  But overseeing future prospects and current scenario, it can only be Mathews. He debuted in the team as a middle-pace bowler, but now he is a totally changed figure in the team, a skipper and a very dependable batsman of the Sri Lankan squad. He does not get his credits and an under-rated player.  The best thing about this player is consistency, whether it is in terms of batting, bowling, or strategy. He never gives up, can hit the bowl hard and attack, defend in critical situations, bowl well and takes good decisions in captaincy at regular intervals. He is a splendid all-rounder and most importantly a team player!!!!! Lahiru Thirimanne is also a very important prospect for this island-nation in one-day cricket.
  7. DARREN BRAVO (WEST INDIES): This will definitely come as a surprise to many. Chris Gayle is the biggest brand, destructive opener, star-player and a legend (not wrong to tag him so) in the Caribbean batting line-up. What spice is to food, Gayle is too Caribbean batting (He is a useful bowler too). But, when it comes to good batting, in terms of singles-doubles, strike rotation, sound and fair technique, it has to be Darren Bravo. Although he has not played much, but he will be a key player for the unit in times to come. It will be the loss of West Indies, if they fail to recognize this talent and utilize his skills to the maximum. He reminds us of Brian Lara, his batting style is very similar to the legend. And, he will be an indispensable and key player for the unit. Apart from him, Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Dinesh Ramdin, Andre Russell are other key players for their batting line-up.
  8. SARFARAZ AHMED (PAKISTAN): This is also another surprise on the list. Well, Younis Khan is the only batting legend in the Pakistani side playing now. Ahmed Shehzaad is a good opener and batsman, but after giving a good start, he fails to consolidate the score. Mohammad Hafeez bats well, but even he fails to capitalize the score-board (he is a very reliable off-spinner, who bowls very economically).  Umar Akmal is a very promising and dangerous batsman, but his inconsistency seems to be a problem. But, Sarfaraz in his limited opportunities has performed well with the bat (though, his keeping skills need to be polished) and has impressed and surprised many. He will remain a key player in the down-order, though he needs to be promoted to the middle-order. Pakistani bowling has always been full of prospects and amazes, but heir batting looks shaky and fragile. This man can make the difference, and in the middle-order, they need a very reliable batsman.(Most of their batsmen are right-handed, barring some past opener batsmen, who have been left-handed. Haris Sohail, a left handed, can make a difference and fill that gap).
  9. BRENDON TAYLOR (ZIMBABWE): Zimbabweans do not get to play much, but when playing, this guy bats the best. He has a great technique, dependable, accumulates runs well and is most reliable. One man can’t win a match for a team, but he does his best every time.
  10.  MAHMUDULLAH RIAD(BANGLADESH):  Bangladesh is considered as a minnow in cricket along with Zimbababwe and Kenya. But, they are now showing a tremendous improvement in their style and technique of cricket. Much of the credit is attributed to Mahmudullah Riad. He is a good batsman, has good technique, provides a foundation to the batting. In the middle order, he alongwith Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib ul Hasan builds innings for the side. Some very talented youngsters have provided a new lease of life and zeal to the team.
  11. No one from Kenya in the list, because they have not played cricket for long.
